a graduated battalion was for young soldiers,mainly those who were 18yrs old,your lad is probably the one born in colchester aged 18.mack
military history,mainly ww1,manchester pals battalions,tyneside irish +tyneside scottish brigades,leeds,liverpool,accrington,birmingham,hull,barnsley,swansea and salford pals.

Thanks Manmack for the information about the battalion.
I have found out that Harvey Jones was born in Disley and died at colchester. I don't know why yet but will be sending for his death certificate.
