Thanks for pointing that out Casalguidi, I did actually put about his names as they appear on the childrens birth/marriage records further down the page (he was charles buckman wolf goodwin on the marriage cert) as for the baker line, i ordered the marriage cert and some others but that was definitely not them as her father was completely wrong, looks like it was just a coincindence.

regards Gary

Hi Gary

I checked the registers today - there was no Charles Goodwin baptised at Deal St Leonard, Deal Independent, Walmer St Mary or Sholden.  The registers for Deal St George are missing for this period; all of the other local churches are later than this date.

Sorry - don't know where else to suggest.

Hi Bill

Thank you kindly for checking for me, much appreciated. Guess it will remain a brick wall on the family tree then, as I have tried every other avenue I can think of.

Thank you for taking the time to look.  I was wondering did you come across any goodwins in the deal area when you were searching?

Thank you. Regards Gary

Thanks Bill, maybe he wasn't born in deal at all then, which was a theory.

Thanks again regards Gary

Hello noticed your discussing Goodwin!!

This information could be totally unrelated, but haven't quite managed to follow the line of enquires.

But..

In 1804
William Goodwin and Sarah Kemp got wed at St Clements Church in Sandwich, Kent.

and

George Goodwin a local? was deported to Van Diemans Island, Australia for the total of 10 years

Ship: Cornwall
300 male convicts
30th Feb 1851

Goodwin G. Maidstone Boro Quarter Sessions
23rd Oct 1846.
