William Tuckwood burial
« on: Thursday 31 May 07 14:51 BST (UK) »
Trying to help a friend out, I am hoping to find where William Tuckwood, died March q of 1899 is buried. I haven't been able to positively identify him in any census, but his birth was between 1849 and 1856. He remains something of a mystery although his wife Lucy (born 1863 at Walesby, Notts) and 3 children are at 24 Pringle Street in the parish of All Saints on the 1901 census. The eldest child, William, was born St. Margarets, Leicester in 1889 there is no sign of any of the family in the 1891 census. Hopefully, his burial might provide some further information. Thanks for any help.
Regards,
Doreen

Can't see him on the NBI Doreen, though someone else on here may have other resources.

I would have thought the marriage cert. would give you more information

Marriage Mansfield Sep 1886
7b 127
Lucy Mary Tissington
William Tuckwood

As you can see, I have Tuckwoods myself so I'm interested!

Hi Heather,
The marriage certificate gives his and his father George's occupation as shoe finisher/cordwainer, his age as 30, bachelor and address as Mansfield. I've gone through all the Williams, father George etc. and the only likely one seems to be born 1849 (who I lost track from the 1871), the others are all married although father/occupation doesn't match in with information on the marriage certificate. Lucy is a widow on the 1901, her last child Helen (Ellen) was born in 1895. The death registration puts William as being born 1856, but I'm not so sure. I thought that if we could find his burial there just might be some information which would help identify him more accurately.
I have come across death registrations where the age has been wrong, but the NBI and the burial entry has been correct. This would make a big difference to the search.
Maggie has only just started tracing her family history and it's the Tuckwood branch which she seems most interested in. If you have a common interest I can put you in contact with her if you like.
 Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Doreen

Hi Mike,
Thank you so very much for this information. Lucy Mary was William's wife and her age bears out with all other records. William is still something of a puzzle (what's new!) but this is information we wouldn't have had without your help. Another piece to the jigsaw.
Very grateful,
Regards,
Doreen.
Do you happen to know if the General Infirmary kept admission records?
