Alnwick Freemason
« on: Friday 01 June 07 16:27 BST (UK) »
I have information to suggest that my 2 x Gt Grandfather George Bryson Bell and possibly his brother or son J.E.Bell were Freemasons in Alnwick somewhere near Green Batt between 1880 and 1920.
The information is not clear but seems to say " Royal Arch Freemasons".

How could i confirm this ?  Any information would be helpful.

Hi
I have been trying to track down generations of my family who were stonemasons, which I understand also meant that they would be freemasons.

Have had no luck in finding them yet but I came across the following web site www.grandlodge-england.org.

If you click on "About Grand Lodge" there is a drop down menu which includes Library and Museum and there is some info there on past lodges but I think member info is only accessible if you vist the Lodge in London.
Good luck. Would appreciate knowing if you track down any other source. :)

Hi Chris

Actually I managed to get information by letter.  I found two ancestors in the list of a lodge in Sunderland and I applied to the Library of Freemasonry by letter with the dates of joining I had found on the web and they posted back what little information they had.

I hoped for real in depth stuff such as jobs and DoB etc, (one of them is part of a problem family) but I think that information is a bit patchy and I was disappointed.

Good luck with yours.

Only through the marriage of my parents.  Both lines of Bells (Embleton and Knaresdale) are on my Mam's side, while the Joblings (Ryton) are on my Dad's.

Good morning
I also have Joblin/Joblings of Ryton on my family tree. Isabella Jobling b: 1711 who married George Hopper in 1731. Please have you come across Isabella at all?

Many thanks
Christine

Hi Christine

I'm afraid I don't.  The only Isabella Job(p)ling I have married a Martin Curry in Chester-le-Street in 1727.

Do you know who Isabella's parents were?
