Lookup - Newspaperarchive.com
« on: Sunday 03 June 07 15:36 BST (UK) »
Does anyone subscribe to Newspaperarchive.com?

If so, I would appreciate a look at the articles concerning J. F. Ware [who could be called James F., James Franklin, or Frank] in the Galveston [Texas] Daily News from about 1895 to 1925.

There are several articles listed and at least some of them seem to refer to my mysterious gg uncle who I know was living in Galveston at this time and in the small satellite town of Hitchcock.

If you can help, thanks in advance.

Here's what I've found:

-an ad which mentions James Ware, M.D., who sells Ware's Black Powder for stomach troubles

-2 articles with lists of veterans, including James A. Ware, veteran of the Texas calvary

-a reference in 1906 to Dr. & Mrs. James Ware returning from a four months' sojourn in Colorado

- a 7 year old James Ware in 1923 who broke his leg

- a Frank Ware, who was accused and convicted of murder in 1895

- a Frank Ware who was accused of disorderly conduct in 1896

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work with searching initials.  If any of those sound like they might be your guy, just drop me a private message with your e-mail and I'll forward the article on to you.

Thanks for looking.  None of those sound good.  My J.F. Ware was a lawyer, originally from Wisconsin, lived in Galveston and Hitchcock.  I am at work right now so can't dedicate any time now to looking for dates for the articles.  I will look this evening for specific articles which I think refer to him and get back to you.  Thanks again!
