Most interesting to read these posts, although they're all from 2007-2014 , so I hope someone is still active on this RootsChat site and picks this up, especially as it appears that I've found a relative in Neil Wheeler, from Ontario, California ! My name is Nicholas Gosse, my paternal grandmother was Marguerite Sophie Heinz, daughter of Hugo and Florence Heinz. Florence' maiden name was Burgess, her father was Frederick Burgess, partner of George Washington 'Pony' Moore of the Moore & Burgess Minstrels, who performed at the St.James Hall Piccadilly. Florence' first husband was Carl Schoell, with whom she had two daughters, Florence and Elsie. When Carl Schoell died, she married Hugo Heinz, who'd moved to London from Frankfurt in the late 1800's, was a professor of music and a fine baritone Leider singer. Apart from the Portman Square address given, they also lived in North Audley Street. As a child I can remember Alice Archer, who we knew as 'Aunty Allie'. Her sister Bertha was a very good friend of my grandmother, my mother says she thought Bertha was a seamstress and that her father had been in service at Buckingham Palace. I look forward to hearing more from you Neil, my mother is 90 and has various paintings photographs of the Heinz family. So, my grandmother Marguerite married Ernest Marson Gosse, he died in 1949, she died in 1960. My father, their only son, Peter, died in 2004. He took the first British Army unit into Denmark in 1945, where he met our mother. In our Danish family we have Californian cousins in the San Francisco area . Looks like contact via email has to be made via the PM system. Hope this is useful, looking to hearing from all in the chain, best wishes, Nick Gosse.
