EMERY Family COMPLETED with thanks to John.
« on: Monday 04 June 07 19:14 BST (UK) »
On the NBI I have an Ann Emery aged 26 Buried 24 April 1803 Potton.

Does anyone have access to the Parish Records which may say whether she is the Ann Emery Christened in Potton in 1777? or the other possibility is that she may have been the Ann Marriot who married Thomas Emery 30 November 1801 Potton.

I do have the family of Thomas Emery and Ann Beane who married on 18 February 1787. First child born 1788 last in 1808. This is assuming that  Thomas and Ann Marriot did not have any children that may have become added to the older couple.

I am wondering if the Ann buried 23 April 1803 was the mother of Samuel Christened 18 May 1803?

If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated, my mind has been going round in circles.

Thanks,

Frances

Hello Frances

Looked at the Potton PR, information as follows.

Burial of Ann Emery on 24 Apr 1803 gives no further details.

The Ann Emery baptised 8 Oct 1777 is daughter of William & Ann Emery.

Marriage on 30 Nov 1801 of Thomas Emery, bach. to Ann Marriot, of Everton, sp. lic.
Note there was an Ann Marrat daughter of Sam & Sar Marrat baptised at Everton on 21 Mar 1779. She'd be the right timescale to die at age 26 in 1803.

Marriage on 18 Feb 1787 of Thomas Emery to Ann Bean(e) of Beeston, Sandy, sp.

Baptism of Sam on 18 May 1803 to Thos & Ann Eemery/Emery.
Note soon after is baptism of Frances daughter of Thos & Ann Emery on 19 Dec 1803.

There was previously a baptism of Sam Amery to Thos & Ann on 17 Feb 1789 but he was buried 19 July 1791

There are 11 baptisms of children to Thos & Ann Emery between 1788 & 1808. How you distiguish those born to Ann (Beane) or Ann (Marriot) after 1801; assuming it isn't the same Thomas; is a matter of guesswork.

Good luck, regards John

Hello John,

Thank-you so much for looking this family up for me. I knew it was a long shot to find any more information on the burial of Ann in 1803, I just had to try though :)

This family may turn out to be difficult to confirm 100%, like you say some may be a matter of guesswork!

Many thanks again,

Frances :)

I have Richard Emery in my tree. He married into my mother's family, Avery Merrill, in Potton in 1738.

If any of you Emery researchers can get back to Richard and Avery, and I imagine that it won't be difficult, and are interested I can get back to Willy the Conqueror and Charlemagne from Avery Merrill's mother, Avery Hale
