1881 census

22 Hatfield Place, Christchurch, Southwark
Reginald Canning, 21, Dairlyman, born Market Harrington, Wiltshire
Esther Canning, 20, born London

RG11/515 102 25

I think that perhaps you couldn't find him because he gave his name as Canning rather than Cannings.

Just had a nosey for Esther Measures on the 1871 and 1861, I cannot find her on the 1871 and the closest match on the 1861 is 13 month old Ester Measures born in Islington residing with her Grandmother, Susan Gray (60 yrs old), and uncle, John Gray,  in Upwell Isle ??? Cambridgeshire.  No sign of Mummy and Daddy Measures.....

But I have found the marriage of a Mr William Aaron Measures to a Miss Elizabeth Gray in Islington in the March quarter of 1859....

I'll have a look for Susan on earlier censuses and see if she has a daughter called Elizabeth
