Army in Newry between 1880 and 1888
« on: Wednesday 06 June 07 16:01 BST (UK) »
Hello. I have an ancestor named Robert Allen (sometimes spelt Allan) born about 1855 who was with the 3rd Batt. Border Reg. and who had one or perhaps two children born to him and his wife Sarah in Newry, Co. Down.
The childrens names were Rebecca and George.
Robert became a Colour Sergeant by 1891.
Anyone any ideas where I could find out more dates etc, confirm any other children etc?
All help greatly appreciated

Hello doverrog,

What faith did Robert and Sarah follow?

The christenings of their children may be on the records of a Newry church.

Hi Christopher,
Their marriage certificate is printed 'the established church' so I'm supposing it was C of E.  Can you help anymore? I'm not in Ireland and don't know where I can access records from the Newry church.
