Marriage Cutress/Bartlett
« on: Wednesday 06 June 07 19:07 BST (UK) »
Could SKS find a marriage for Susanna Cutress bc1753 and James Bartlett bc1755 in Sussex? Presumably the marriage would have been circa 1773 and as their son Thomas was born in Patcham I would hope that that was where the marriage took place.
Many thanks Thelma

Hi Thelma

James Bartlett married Susanna Cutress on 17 April 1781 at Patcham.  They were both of this parish and married by banns.

Hi Thelma

Meant to say last night, I went back and checked the date because I noticed that Thomas was born 1773 but it was definitely 1781! So either they weren't married when he was born or it was a second marriage but it doesn't say James is a widower!  :-\

Hi
Thomas was actually born c1785 in Patcham. The 1773 was me assuming that they were 20ish when they got married. So the 1781 marriage does seem right although that makes them both quite old when they married.

Thanks again for checking.

Thanks Steve.
That was all news to me. Are you linked to these families? So far I seem to be lucky, finding mostly uncommon surnames. That should make the searches easier.
Best wishes Thelma

Indeed our family is linked to this lime (the cutress line). I have been doing a one named study on this family. Le me know what other details you would like - also see http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.cutress

Have just found this - do you by any chance have anything on Mary Cutress who married James Flint in Henfield in 1798 - she is a complete brickwall as far as I can find.
