Hi scottiem15

Welcome to Rootschat  :D

Firstly we need to establish your lineage....How do you know you are related?

Have you found any of your relations in the censuses?

Do you know your grandparents/great grandparents names?

If you can provide us with some details we may be able to follow the trail backwards.

Hi Rachel

Welcome to Rootschat!  :)  It's been a long time since we worked on the Scotts.

I have found this:

Birth Reg
Edward Clarkson Wilson
mar q 1871
Tynemouth, Northumberland
Vol 10b Pg 187

then this marriage:
Edward Clarkson Wilson = Annie Scott
jun q  1900
Toxteth Park, Lancashire
Vol 8b pg

in 1901 Edward and Annie are living with her Scott family headed by John Scott, 58, Master mariner b New Brunswick.

How far have you followed them back?

Hi deb

thanks so much for your help.  i must confess i have wanted to trace my family tree for years but when i'm working i never find the time and when not working just as busy trying to find a job lol!

i found a baby book for my mum which contained a family history page. this is what has given me the enthusiasm. the trouble is i don't really know where to start. i have found the  birth, marriage and death dates for Robert Falcon Scott and his wife Kathleen I know Robert and Kathleen had one child, how would i find out the details for their child?  i suppose the next step is to find parents, siblings and children of John Scott.

i am also interested in the possible link to Edward Adrian Wilson, Scott's friend and companion on the expedition. it seems such a coincidence that i have known relatives Edward Clarkson Wilson and Annie Scott by marriage doesn't it? i was also told we were related to Scott by my family several times as i was growing up.

if you have any further advice for me it will be gratefully received.   :)

Hi Anne

I think the first thing to do is establish your family line and then try to link it to Robert Falcon Scott.

Robert F Scott was b 1869 in Devonport s/o John Edward and Hannah Scott. Both of his parents were born in Devon.  John Edward Scott (robert's dad) was b 1832 in Devonport. His parents were Robert Scott (b 1793 Devon)and Ann Meyers Scott.

Your line stems from a John Scott b 1843 in New Brunswick Canada.

Where do you think they link up? what have you heard?

I will post details of your family in my next post
