There's nothing about Mary...
« on: Saturday 09 June 07 10:20 BST (UK) »
Hello all, was wondering whether anyone could provide info on my g g g grandmother, Mary Stoves. She married a man called James Peel around 1875 in Tynemouth, I have documents that say she was born around 1851 in Howden (??) I dont know where Howden is, only somewhere in Northumberland, I dont know if county borders changed and made it part of Durham. Any info on her would be appreciated, especially if anyone could find her with her family on census records.
Regards
Matthew

Hi Matthew

Do you have Mary's marriage certificate?  At least then you would have her father's name, I have had a quick look on census, and there are a couple with the same name

Hi Jane, Im afraid I dont have a marriage certificate :(
I know that Mary and James called children Mary, Jane, Ruth, James, Isabella, that could be a loose line to go on if the family named children after other relatives :-\
Thats not that accurate though, most Ive found came from James side :(

Hi both  :)

How do you know Mary was called Stoves, Matthew? Do you have a birth cert for one of the children?  :)

The first child was Mary Thompson Peel (but I can't see a James Peel - Mary Thompson marriage either)

Hi  - sorry for been so slow, but I have a strapped up arm  :( and its making me go slow!

Do you have them on any census, I see the family on 1891, James born in Caldbeck, Cumberland??

Will try and find their marriage, I think that might be a good starting point

Hi Tati, I have Mary Thompson Peel's marriage record, she was my 2x great granny :).  She married a man called William Reay, and their son moved to Scotland, so I can trace the family in those records, despite the fact they were still in England. Nice  ;D

I did find the family on the 1881 census, but I think that was on the LDS site. :)

Here they are in 1881

Do you have Mary Thompson's birth cert? Is that where it said Stoves?  :)

(I ask because there is a Mary Thompson born ca. 1849 Howden, parents Andrew and Isabella, on the 1861 census)
