I just discovered some long lost cousins and hope to learn more about them:

Frederick SHALLCROSS
born: 16 Aug 1915 Manchester
died: Aug 1996 Salford

Eric SHALLCROSS
born: Oct-Dec 1922 Manchester

They are the sons of:

Alfred James SHALLCROSS
born: Jan-Mar 1880 Openshaw
died: Oct 1951 Manchester

and

Emma LAMB
born: 18 May 1886 Bradford, Lancashire
died: Sep 1969 Newton Heath

If anyone has heard of or is related to Frederick or Eric, please let me know.

There are several shallcrosses in the manchester phone book.   www.bt.com  has  directory enquiries. some may be related.

Thanks! I guess I ought to slog through the bmd indexes on Ancestry and find out when and if either of these folks got married and had children. They are my late grandmother's first cousins and were a complete mystery to me until last week.

well it might be worth putting shallcross and manchester into search engine onthe bt site,would act as a cross reference for the bdms.

Emma died at a residential home for aged people run by the Welfare Services Department in Newton Heath, so I gather her death would have been registered by a staff member - though it couldn't hurt to check for sure.

So far no firm leads have presented themselves in the birth and marriage indices, save that Eric's wife might be named Mabel.

bt.com was acting up, but I'll try some more....
