Wedding Witnesses William Austin & Harriett Sleath

i have the marriage cert of my great grandparents James Bentley & Elizabeth Ann Richards, they were married on May 28th 1892 at the parish church in the parish of St Barnabs in the county borough of Leicester. by banns by George Godfrey
the witnesses were William Austin & Harriett Sleath. now these guys could be just anybody but i was wondering if they were related so please could someone look them up on the 1891 & 1901 census and hopefully their respective other halves will tie in with my reations.
unfortuantley i do not have their date or year of birth as this is the only record i have of them but hopefully the task will not be too impossible.

for info. James Bentleys address at ttime of marriage was 45 Prosepct Hill & Elizabeth Ann Richards was 14 Granby Avenue, - maybe they were nightbours.

Quite possibly. What is the census ref for each of these addresses?

i do not know the census ref as i only have access to the free stuff.
the addresses were on the marriage cert.

i obvs. meant neighbours and not nightbours!

maybe it is too difficult i can't imagine how many William Austins there were in 1892 but i expect there were a few!

This might be your Harriet Sleath's birth registration:

Jun 1875  Leicester 71 171

Might help find her on 1891/1901; although she could be married by 1901.

Granby Avenue bisects Prospect Hill at the low numbers
So yes they would be neighbors……
The Witness could well be Church Wardens / Stewards ?

If we can not solve it via Census returns.
I can have a look at the Registers at the Records Office
to see if William & Harriett names
Pop up  a lot as witness.

There is 17 William Austin's on the Census returns of which 9 would be able to be a witness

The only William Austin within a 2 mile radius of St. Barnabas Church :~

Elizabeth Wife. 29. b Market Harborough
But it could have been any of the other eight William Austin's to be honest .

was 8th. May 1892.
not 28th May.

The surnames of both Bentley & Richards are well know within the district

Bentley's Engineering Works  St. Saviour's Road.
Richards Iron Smelting Works Martins Street.
