The blind/deaf and dumb box is ticked for him on the 1841 ? census and this might account for the variety of spellings that I have for Challoner

I think this is in the 1851 census and the cross in the blind. deaf or dumb box is just an enumerators check mark when he was totting up how many were not born in Shropshire.  Look at the family above that were born in Derbyshire.
