OK, rechecked and I am going to stick with my Polly. I admit the o could be an a but I think they are definitely ll not tt. very clearly no strokes, and the vicar did seem to generally cross his ts. I did not cross my mind that it was anything but Polly when I checked, but only when I saw IGI had Patty. My recheck again I saw Polly not Patty. Also Polly is a know nickname for Martha  ;)

The marriage of Esther and William Cumming did not occur in Padstow, nor can I find it listed elsewhere in Cornwall. Devon seems Likely.

Martha (Polly) will not appear on the census - I can see no burial nor remarriage listed for George Wison in Padstow pre 1841 nor does he appear on the 1841 census for Padstow.

Martha WILSON was buried Padstow on the 18 Mar 1823 aged 49 of Padstow

Hope it helped........Kris  :D

Hi again

There is this death
Esther Day Cuming
b 1882
d 1892 Mar quarter
Stoke Damerel

I have looked on original and I think the age of Esther when passing is 80 and not 8... maybe Kris can check for me ..... :D

In 1891 Esther D Cuming (87) is still living with her daughter Hannah Scott and her son-in-law in Stoke Damerel. She is a widow  :'(

here is William Bennett Cuming's death:
Dec quarter 1886
Stoke Damerel

Now Esther did have a brother who did stay in Padstow when not at sea. (Sailor, mariner) at childrens baptisms. In 1841 we find children Margeritta, Esther, Edward and Eliza (WILSON) in Padstow no parents. In 1851 mother Margaret is there with some children (WILLSON) 1861 WILLSON Hubby is home now "shipowner". So the DAY and CUMMINS families were involved in same business. Maybe another son Henry also a mariner = Mary Carter ;) Will look for baptisms later

For Cornwall Census Free Online see

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,144624.0.html

Peter Day WILSON b Padstow 8 Jan 1802 Parents George and Martha WILSON

also see a double baptism I should throw in here before I go on with Peter

John Day WILSON born 30 Mar 1799 and baptised 11 Aug 1800
George WILSON born 1 July 1800 and baptised 11 Aug 1800 (Parents George and Martha - so looks like Esther's baptism is the only one to list mother as Polly)

Peter Day WILSON OTP Bachelor = Margaretta Christian KUNZE 16 Nov 1824 by Banns Padstow both signed. Witnesses Christain Kunze and Wm E ?

2 burials I spotted by accident in 1839 may be important. Margaretta is German so wouldn't think the name would be too common in Cornwall

KUNZE Catrina Margaretta 7 Apr 1839 aged 80
KUNZE Christian 30 Apr 1839 aged 76

Now Christian is a female name in Cornwall but these people are German so I would think Male.

Cheers Kris  ;D
