Brice/Bentley
« on: Tuesday 12 June 07 12:35 BST (UK) »
This is a bottle thrown in the sea - but I am looking for a family Brice/Bentley - they appear in the 1901 census in Wolverhampton Staffs - John C Brice surveyor of taxes, born St Pancras London age 41, wife Louisa Esther (tho it may be Hester) - born Marylebone  maiden name Bentley + 3 kids John C, Mary L + Arthur B Brice. Louisa is my great grandmother's sister. Any help would be appreciated - I am trying to go forwards not backwards which is much more difficult!

And I know Alice died in Rhodesia in 1975 - I reckon she was childless as she left most of her effects to my mother
Mary Louisa must have died before 1975 as she was named as the sole beneficiary in that will but not mentioned when they dealt with the estate, but she may have married. So I am left with David + John C(hristopher)
I have no as yet found a single living person on this side of the family - it's frustrating - thanks for the info tho - now I can strike 1 off my list!

Yes she did - I have the invite to the funeral tho not the death cert. My main problem is that the Bentley family came from Marylebone -
William 1842
Eliza 1845
Richard 1849 - 1858
Jane Elizabeth 1852 - 1856
Charles George 1855 - aft 1901 x Edith Emily Wood (1865 - 1894) - 3 sons all alive in 1901
Louisa Hester 1858 - 1909 x John Christopher Brice
Georgina 1862 - 1950 (my greatgrandmother)
Alice (H)Ester 1869
That area was a conveyor belt of bdm's - the films available from the LDS are quite literally 1 full spool per 1 or 2 years of baptisms or marriages or burials  - about 80 reels of film - after a few reels my brain locked up
With that many kids there must be someone looking at this family - but I've not found anyone as yet
How do you get all your surnames on the bottom of the messages - i see you have Holman - that's me as well - Holman's of St Just

I'd be surprised if she wasn't related but I haven't got her - my Holmans were staunch Wesleyan Methodists - the more affluent end of the family were in Cambourne running the family business while my side were more into religion - there are some of them here - http://west-penwith.org.uk/justmark.htm
