Hiya Danny,

I've just noticed your query's about Connelly and not Connolly. I was going to suggest you contact the Coleraine branch of the North of Ireland Family History Society as there's a person named Connolly on the branch committee.

I'm not certain where the majority were about 1800. Irish Ancestors Surname Search gives the distribution of people with the Connelly surname at the time of Griffith's Valuation 1848-64. This surname appeared in most of the counties in Ireland although the number of families with this name only reached double figures in nine counties. Waterford - 41 and Cork - 36 were well in the lead. There were 25 in Mayo and 19 in Galway. Co. Antrim was near the end of the list with three Connelly families.
