I know it sounds daft but I found who I thought could have been Pats brother in law in a census in Wolverhampton and it said Mayo for place of birth so I looked for Finlans in Mayo and then found those 2 on the 1901 Mayo census.  Patricks wife was called Bridget Maddon..

I know I am on dodgy ground here. bbut trying to unravel this is like doing a jigsaw without a picture.

Hi Janet

My Grandmother was Bridget Finlan born in Wolverhampton in 1901/02 who then married a Charles Davis. Her past relatives I believe Uncles or Great Uncles were 3 brothers who  I believe came from Co Mayo to Wolverhampton not sure when but would imagine mid 1800's
I have done a little bit of digging around and came up with a record of a James Finlan b1832 who married a Bridget Bulger b1843 in Ireland  and they had a daughter Catherine Finlan b1885

Not sure if any of this is relevant but thought I would share it with you
