New member - Hi there.
« on: Thursday 14 June 07 02:55 BST (UK) »
Just a quick  , Just joined and doing a bit of research on my own family tree.

The thing that confuses me the most is that one day I can find info and the next I can't, something to do with my age no doubt. I still haven't got used to all the possible ways of finding it either. It seems that either I don't really understand the system or I'm just thick.

Anyway bye for now, I'll be back soon no doubt with a few questions.

Welcome LordOf Kent!

You've come to the right place if it's help you need!

The people on here are very clever, very knowledgable and very helpful.

If you enter your surname interests you may even find some long lost relatives. (See "your surname interests" right at the bottom of the page). It's also worthwhile reading all the links etc on the various boards.

Enjoy the rootschat experience!

It seems that either I don't really understand the system.

It's like anything else - until you find your way around, it will be confusing.  It's worth browsing through the Beginner's Board for basic information.  Other than that - ask away, someone will know the answer or point you in the right direction.  We were all beginners once!

jeanharris  Hi and welcome.

I am researching family from Kent too,so maybe I can help.
Thanks I will bear that in mind when I get working on it next week probably.

domino  I'm afraid there haven't been many updates of late but as always I'm hoping to add some things, the hospital page for example need an urgent update now that it is all finished.

Jamaine  Thanks for noticing the coding, it was quite a task as it was all hand coded and self tought. No WYSIWYG used here apart from using an editor that displayed different parts of the code in different colours while writing it. And the code that YOU see when viewing it is nothing like the code that is loaded at first  ;D  If I say, php includes, server side etc you may know what I mean.

Anyway that's totally of topic so I'll stop there. If anyone is interested how I did it then don't worry about asking me.

Hi jeanharris

I see from your list of names that you are researching the Topley family from Kent.  I have them in my tree - are they the ones from High Halstow?
