grandfather & pals need some TLC

Could someone kindly give my granddad lucas and his pals some TLC please photo is badly damaged so any improvement would be great

Sorry dont know Im hoping if i can get the pic cleaned a bit I may be able to read the football !!! I know Victor who is on the photo was born in Coventry and was in the army hense tje football team photo!

Could it be an "E" for Engineers?

That would be fun, as my OH's grandad played in the Royal Fuseliers footies team! They may have played against each other.  He also played in Goal for Arsenal 1911-1913 (their worst season ever lol!)
