Most of the other information you might be looking for will often require a personal visit to the Records Office but there may be something on the A2A site or the National Archives.  Have you checked Wills, Removal and Settlement Certificates, Land Registers, Rent Books, Burial Registers, Monumental Inscriptions, Court Rolls? and if you are in the Record Office just mention to the staff the area where they were living and see what other documents they say they hold for there.

Kirkintilloch registers have been filmed, so you should be able to consult them locally to where you live. 

Have you seen the original records?  You might be lucky and find "son of" type info.

Have you tried Wills - free to search on Scotland's People? somebody might have left something to your ancestors, or there might be identifying names and addresses.
