Not sure whether you know this already, but Phillimore's transcriptions of Derbyshire marriages has:

Samuel Ault of Quarne and Elizabeth Hood, 4th Dec 1757 at St Alkmund's Derby

Thomas Ault of Langley and Elizabeth Hudson, 18th January 1804

Not sure about Quarne - is it Quarndon, which is just outside Derby?

Thank you for that. Are the transcriptions available online?

Hi Jane,

http://www.uk-genealogy.org.uk/Registers/index.html

I'm not sure if that's all the Phillimore transcriptions which were published for Derbyshire, but it's certainly not all the parish registers that exist at the Derbyshire Record Office in Matlock.

I am descended from Hannah Ault who married John Cockayne.  She is on the IGI as being baptised in 1774 in Quarndon, the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth.  Gonna be watching this thread  ;-)

Hi Tom

It appears we have 2 Samuel and Elizabeth's marrying the same year:

Samuel Ault and Elizabeth Huff 22nd Feb 1757 Kirk Langley

Samuel Ault of Quarne and Elizabeth Hood, 4th Dec 1757 at St Alkmund's Derby

I think we have a Sam and Eliza each!

I also have Aults in my tree, the furthest back I have is Samuel born in Brailsford abt 1803  I haven't look too far into this family as they are only in my tree by marriage. However I did find a grave in Uttoxeter  Road Cemetery that I believe belongs to them, if anyone is interested I have some photos.
