Hedd Wyn

Hi all,
I have today been given information that a relation of mine married into the family of Hedd Wyn, Ellis Humphrey Evans 1887-1917. My relation Enid Morris b1910 Llangerniew married Glyn Williams of Trawsfynydd. I unfortunately do not know any other details and am unable to pinpoint the correct Glyn Williams in BMD. I am assuming it was one of Hedd Wyn's sisters who would be Glyn's mother. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who might know of this family.

Hey nerys, If you find a Mary Evans in that info I'd be interested. My father in law told me that she was born in Trawsfyndd in 1873 and was related to Hedd Wynn but I've never been able to find the connection!! There was also a question re Hedd Wynn on the Welsh speakers board recently.

Hi Liverpool lass,
Hedd Wyn's mother was Mary Evans but she was born in 1865c. He also had a sister Mary born 1890.

Hi Liverpool lass,
I have just been rifling through my tree and have come across a Mary Evans b1873, Trawsfynnydd!!! She was married to Owen Arthur Jones b 1873 c, who's son George Jones was my mother's Uncle!!! I am now trying to delve deeper into this Mary Evans as really I haven't taken any notice of her before.  . I could keep you informed if you'd like.

wow Nerys! Thats her!! I don't know anything about George but Mary and Owen had a daughter Mary Winefred b 1900, d 1923 and another daughter Myfanwy b 1908, d 1974 in Melbourne Australia. Owen is buried in Ystradmynach, Glamorgan. He died in 1915. Mary died in 1964 and is buried in Clawdd Newydd, Ruthin(?).

I have some info on Myfanwys family but haven't been able to go back. I also have a ton of photos which I think belonged to Mary but I don't know who they are. I have various other bits and pieces but I don't know where they fit in. If you can help me here I'd be delighted.

I have just checked what little dates I have, and yes my Owen Arthur Jones died in 1915 and Mary died in 1964. What I have at the moment in my tree is Owen and Mary had a daughter Margaret  b 1902 as well as my mam's uncle George. We don't know of any siblings really.
I am really excited I have goosebumps. But I have to tell you that a grandaughter of Owen and Mary has recently died. Auntie Ginny real name Margaret Morris was born 1918. I will have to get in touch with her family and see if they would be interested to hear from you. I'm sure they will be very interested, we have all being doing the Morris side of our family which is Ginny's husband's side so I don't know how much they know on the Jones side. I have just checked my GenesReunited site, as Ginny's daughter has her tree up there too, unfortunately she has only gone as far back as Margaret b1902. She was born in South Wales, which is probably why Owen was buried down there.
I will now e-mail one of Ginny's daughters and will get back in touch with you soon.

This does sound like a match. As I said the only children I had for the marriage were Mary Winefred born 1900 and died 1923 and Myfanwy Kate born about 1908. I didn't know about Margaret and George. I have photos of a headstone in Clawdd Newydd which details the deaths of Owen, Mary Winefred and Mary but the other children are not mentioned. I also have lots of other names but I don't know how they fit in. Have you heard of a family called Glandwr? I have also recently found a ref to Maggie Jones who married Thomas (?) Morris at Betwsy Coed. He died in 1988. I f you PM your e mail address we can compare notes and maybe help each other.
