Hiya Mary,

It may be the missing marriage of William Wilson (a Belfast publican) and Ann Rice of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

They had a son about 1864.

Hiya Mary and Danny,

In the post on the William Wilson/Ann Rice marriage thread you say Ann Rice was from Armagh, Danny.
Would a marriage at Carrickfergus in 1866 fall into the "1855-65 in Antrim" category and why would
they have married there if Ann came from Armagh?

I looked at Carrickfergus (traders only) in the 1861 and 1880 Directories on the Lennon Wylie website ... there was no one named Rice but there were a couple of Wilsons in 1861 but they were not there in 1880.

G. L. Wilson, publican, North Street.
James Wilson, brick and tile maker, Irish Quarter West.

The Directory for 1861 offered the following in Belfast ....

George Wilson, spirit grocer, 29 Barrack Street.
Guy S. Wilson, rectifying distiller, 11 Mill Street.
James Wilson, wine and spirit dealer, 29 Church Lane.
James Wilson, wholesale tea, wine and spirit merchant, 45 Victoria Street.
John Wilson, spirit dealer, 30 Washington Street.
Mrs Wilson, grocer and spirit dealer, 20 Ship Street.
William Wilson, spirit dealer, 74 Great George's Street.
William Wilson, grocer and spirit dealer, 18 Lynas Lane.

Danny, do you know if William had any siblings?

Christopher

Hi Chris
Sorry i made a mistake, ann rice wasnt from armargh.
Im not sure if he had any siblings but i do know that his parents were also publicans.
they came from East Belfast or South Antrim.

Hi Mary

That does look like a good possibility but will have to find out somehow.
Do you happen to know if i obtained the marriage cert, would it give full name?
