One of the earlier posts said that records for the News Boys Home were held by Sydney Jones Museum. I presume this is the Sydney Jones Library in The University of Liverpool?

My great grandmother was Martha Clingan from West Island, Belle Isle, Lisbellaw, Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.  I think she is related to Thomas Clingan, police inspector in Liverpool, and I have seen a photo of him and his family now in the posession of my sister.

Just saw this thread. I am currently pulling together a scrapbook on the history of the Everton Red Triangle Boxing Club (100 years old this year) which was on Everton Road.
It took over the Newsboys home in 1919 when the Newsboy Home became known as the Everton Red Cross Triangle Lads’ Club and became a branch of the YMCA after it acquired the property from the Newsboys’ Home for Destitute Boys on Everton Road, (120-126) not far from the Heyworth Street junction with Breck Road in November 1919.

I would be most interested in receiving any photographs of the Newsboys home (redkop) if you are willing as these would be a useful addition to the scrapbook.

Thanks in advance

I'm late the party but Thomas Clingan 1852-1909 Retired Inspector of the Liverpool Police was my 2nd gr-grandfather and I would be pleased to have an information that can be found!

Thank you!

@GRANGELANER

Are you aware of a renumbering of Everton Road at all? I drove down that way last week and saw the old military drill hall which has a sign above saying red triangle club, very dilapidated building, I'm curious to know if this is indeed the building that was once the New Boys Home. It is currently numbered in the 60s
