Draycott/Norris
« on: Tuesday 19 June 07 21:35 BST (UK) »
trying to sort:

My Grandfather  Robert Argylle Green b..1901...Leicester

His father         Robert Argylle Green b..4th August 1859 Hinckley ....
His mother       Emma Draycott...... ???

I have searched everywhere for birth cert for Emma...eventually decided to go for her sister Louisa's Cert to try and verify parents names....
This gave me:
John Draycott and Sarah Norris..They married in 1857 and Emma wasnt born ?? until 1859 ...So I assume she is of the marriage.....!? I have census returns for the Green family for the years: 1891 and 1901... after the marriage.
And the Draycott's  from 1861 as

John Draycott      head   age abt  28   born abt 1835 Leicestershire
 Igan/Jean/Jane      wife   age abt    27   born abt 1834      "
 Emma          daughter     "    2       "   "  1859      "
 Louisa         daughter     "    1       "   "  1861      "

So need to find a definate birth date for Emma .....

ANY ...Help would be wonderful......
xinia

Brilliant
you are wonderful....I had gone through free BMD and it just didn't show....at all..now I can send for that cert and tidy up that loose end....
Yes It does say Jean and then on Louisa's birth cert is says Jane nee Norris of ....? Needle Gate st Leicester.

It would also help if its not to cheeky to ask .....for anything you can find on John Draycott.1834c Anstey...I have his parents down as:   William  1810 anstey and Mary Ann Smith Thurcaston 1821..
So would love to verify with a b.c. for John.

Great work thanks Mike...
Xinia

Greeting’s Again Xinia.

I was one jump ahead of you
I had already had a look at Anstey Baptisms
Closest to your details  was :~

Charles Draycott.
28th. September 1832.
St Mary’s Parish Church.
Anstey,
Father William a Frame Work Knitter.
Mother :~ ALICE.

The other Draycott Family in Anstey c 1830’s :~

Robert Draycott.
3rd. May. 1835.
Father. Joseph Draycott. A Frame Work Knitter.
Mother :~ Ann.

It’s not until 1848 we get this one :~
John Draycott.
2nd April. 1848.
Father :~ William Draycott. Frame Work Knitter.
Mother :~ Mary.

Now I do not wish to disappoint you. …. But
You’ll not get a Birth certificate 1834 / 5.
It’s before registration began in 1837.
What you can get is a copy of the Baptism Register.

Now if you can wait I’ll have a look for you this Thursday
at the Records Office
And report back here on your thread with my finding’s

MIKE.
