Hello Peggy,

It's not only Google where I get information. I'm a member of a dating site which has members throughout Ireland. I posted a query to a couple of Co. Meath members within the past hour and one was kind enough
to reply with the following information.

The church in Skyrne' address is just that Skyrne Co. Meath. Skyrne consists of one road leading to Warrenstown. This is famous for its agricultural college.

Another church which comes under the parish of Skrne is called Rathfiegh church which is Skyrne or Tara Co. Meath.

Thanks Chris, the Skyrne church addresses are simple enough, I`ll have a go at it.

Hello Peggy

The only church in Skryne is called Skreen Church .. its a ruin but there are old gravestones ... its is kept quite well ...

Another RC Church very close to Skryne (and is use) is:

Saint Columcille Churchyard, Skryne, Tara, County Meath, Ireland

Its address is actually in Tara ... but its a 'field' over from Skryne!!  Some of my relatives were from Skryne and were buried in this churchyard ....checkout:  http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/meath/columcille/index.htm - lists some of the burials...

I've visited Rathfeigh Church also - there's an old ruin with lots of old graves together with another church that is in use... some of the burials are listed:  http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/meath/immaculate_rath/index.htm.

Hope this helps a little.  Kind regards, Karen :)

Greetings Karen, I can`t thank you enough for your help. I`ve printed out the graves at Saint Columcille, from the grave site you provided,(is this a RC church?) many of the family names I`m researching are there, Crocock, Geraghty,Gallagher. I had suspected the Crowcocks(the "w" shows up in some records) and Geraghtys stemmed from there even though my grandmother and some of her siblings were baptised at Dunshaughlin, children of James Gallagher and Anne Crowcock. Do you think it`s possible to obtain baptism/burial records from the parish rectory?

I did not find any of mine on the Rathfeigh church list.
Thank you again for your help. If you wish to contact me off line my email address is-(*), I`m in the US so Irish research is very difficult.

Best regards,
Peggy

Hello again Karen, There is a picture of James Gallagher and Anne Crowcock that I posted a while back, you can view it "A post for Peggy", I really don`t know how to direct you to the picture any other way.

Hiya Peggy,

I've an address here ... Parochial House, Skryne, Tara. Co. Meath Click here if you need a phone number.

You may be interested in some historical details about Tara (Temair). Thomas Moore (1779–1852) wrote a poem called "The Harp that Once Through Tara’s Halls" There are now plans to destroy this lovely part of Ireland and build a motorway through the area. There's an online petition to Save Tara. Conservationists, including a group called the Tara Harpers, are doing their best to stop the guys working on the site. There are demonstrations all over the place including Dublin and New York.
