Has anyone any info on the Mills family that would help me find my ggggrandfather?

He married Susannah Orwood (prob Harwood) in Newark in 1838, father Thomas, both Potters. They had Sarah (my gggrandmother) in 1839 in Newark, & Thomas, bap 1841 in Langtoft, Lincs (abode stated as Nottingham). Their son Thomas died Jan 1842 In Water Lane Newark, & Susannah died in March the sane year. Sarah appears in the 1851 census with an Amy Haywood (grandmother?) lodging in Great Glenn, Leics, both travellers/dealers in pots. Sarah marries Francis Elliott (my gggrandfather) c1858.

My problem is that I can't trace Robert or the family in the 1841 census, or just Robert himself afterwards. He may have remarried or died, but I can't discover anything more about him, or any relevant IGI record for his birth. I only know his father is Thomas - & I can't trace him either.

Robert was prob born c 1815. Other sightings of travelling Mills families in the census don't trace back to him.

Has anyone connections with this Mills travelling family? Or has anyone suggestions for my next move?

I couldn't see your family either - they are hiding!

Do you have Sarah's marriage certificate?  I wonder if the witnesses might throw some light on the family?

I have tried many times to find Sarah & Francis' marriage, trying every variation I can think of, but never succeeded. I have just had another try in case it has come on later, but no luck.

A marriage certificate would certainly have given useful info, partic whether her father Robert was still alive I suppose.
