Anyone Interested in Slaugham or Warninglid?
« on: Sunday 24 June 07 20:32 BST (UK) »
Hi

If anyone is interested in the West Sussex villages of Slaugham or warninglid, then I have a few photos I took last Sunday of the villages. I would be happy to either submit them to this site or send them to anyone interested.

Also I have the complete BMDs for Bolney from 1541 to 1892.

Ben

Hi Ben

That's a very kind offer!

I wonder if you could check for 3 queries I have in my Vincent family who were from the area.

1.  Richard Vincent born 1713 in Bolney but I don't have a date
2.  Catherine Crispe born 1717 in Bolney but again no date
3.  Robert Vincent married an Ann? in 1654 I think in Bolney and not on the Sussex Marriage Index.

Thank you again

Kerry  :)

Hi Kerryb

No Richard Vincent although I found an Ann, John and Hugh Vincent born in 1708, 1711 and 1717, the children of Hugh and Eden Vincent.

I did find a Richard Vincent born in 1748 to Richard and Catherine. I couldnt find a Robert Vincent marriage to Ann around 1654 or surrounding decades.

No Catherine Crispes either.

Hi Ben
New to rootschat today

I am interested in my Holder ancestors in Sussex, I have Nathaniel Holder at Warnham, 1771 to 1834, whose father was William, m Sarah Alfrey in 1757 at Worth. We think William's parents could be Richard Holder m Sarah Alfrey at Slaugham in 1712, but not sure. Nathaniel's spinster sister Elizabeth died at Warnham in 1832, I have her will that says she came from Slaugham.
Richard died in 1728 at Mickleham.

If you can shed any light I would be very grateful, a cousin from Australia came over here a few years ago and spent a lot of time getting that far, but the link is not watertight yet.

Ben

Thank you for looking, I can now cross Bolney off the list of possibilities.

Hi Ben,

Many of my family lines are from Slaugham. I was there at he beginning of the year to look around the church (yard) but the church was being renovated so couldn't get inside. Did check out some graves though.

I also have my gt (x3) grandmother born in Bolney:

Elizabeth Moore c1818 - I have her parents as Charles & Jane.

If you are able to give any more info on her to confirm (or otherwise) that'd be great,

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Ben,

Thanks for trying.  One census says Cowfold, so perhaps that one is right the others wrong,
Thanks again,
