1/3 City of London Regt of Royal Fusiliers
« on: Monday 25 June 07 14:39 BST (UK) »
I am researching the life of my grandfather William Allen who served with the 1/3 City of London Regt from 5/5/1914 to 31/5/1916. This was a Territorial force. He had previously been in the Scots Guards from 31/12/1896 to 30/12/1903 and fought in the Boer War.

He was awarded the DCM at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle in March 1915 and received a shell wound to the abdomen on 22/6/1915 which meant he took no further part in WW1.

I have been trying to locate war diaries for the regiment but it would appear that the NA only have diaries that start from November 1915.

I have the book by Geoff Bridger on The battle of Neuve Chapelle and also Edward Hancock's account of the battle of Aubers Ridge.  These give some incite to the regiments' involvement at the time I am interested in but, would appreciate any futher info that anybody has about the regiment.
