Hi,folks. Thanks for working so hard for me.Here are the certificate details.
GREAT-GRANDFATHER;William Tuckwood.Married at the Registry Office in Mansfield to Lucy Mary Tissington.(age given 23yrs).24th August 1886.age given 30yrs.Bachelor.Shoefinisher.Address Newton St,Mansfield.Father;George Tuckwood.Cordwainer

GRANDFATHER;William Graham Tuckwood.D.O.B;6th June 1889. Address 10 Court ? Churchgate Leicester.Father;William Tuckwood,Shoefinisher

Neither Lucy or William could write as the marriage cert states "The mark of"
I've found a George Tuckwood who was a cordwainer on the 1891 census married to a Mary, but no William who would have been 2yrs old.

YES,NEWFY,we have a real challenge!
Bye for now Maggie

Hi,Heather
It does look likely that William is the son of George and Rebecca,as he was living in Newton St in Mansfield at the time of his marriage. But I can't find them on any of the census. His father was a Cordwainer as on the marriage cert. The witnesses to the marriage were Matthew Salmon and Priscilla Stocks.Do you think that other William G. was their first born.Lucy registered William G. in 1889
Bye for now
Maggie

Hi Heather
If the 1849 William is mine, then this is the info I've found.
1851 CENSUS-Living at 145,CLEMENT PLACE,HYSON    GREEN,RADFORD,NOTTS

1861 CENSUS-Living at 20,NORLAND RD,ST.ANNES,NOTTS
                       Aged 13-occupation Winder

1871 CENSUS-Living at 17,DENNETT? ST. NOTTS
                       Aged 22-occupation Shoemaker

1881 CENSUS George and Rebecca's family had all left apart from Christopher and Kate

1891 CENSUS George was a widower living with his son George and his wife Eliza and family.Rebecca died 1885

Now then,two questions.
1)What are F.H.S.Burial Transcriptions
2)How do you find out where they were living at the time of their death.

I do agree on the first WILLIAM G. What a strange co-incidence

I've only been doing this for a short time so I have a lot to learn!

Maggie

Hi Mike
I've sent some info to Heather,which you will probably read,but I need to know;

1)Where do I find the Military Records of the Wars you mentioned

2)Where do you find the District Numbers from and how do you extract the info.

Thanks for all your help
Maggie

Hi Maggie,

Sorry for the delay in answering you. It's just my opinion but I think the 1886 certificate for the "other" William Graham Tuckwood could be interesting. Graham is such an unusual christian name at that time, the odds are it will be connected. If he belongs to your William and Lucy then you can link them to the area of Nottingham that George and Rebecca were living 1881/1891.

FHS transcriptions are those done by Notts Family History society from the parish registers and published on CD. In this case the burial record stated where the family were living when the child died but didn't name either parent.

Hi Heather

If I do get the 1st William's birth cert. and it says that William and Lucy are his parents, how will it help me to find them between 1886 and 1889.They were in Leicester in 1889 as that is where William 2nd was born.
I really appreciate all the help you are giving me.

Bye for now
Maggie
