1841/1851 census for Jennet Thomas St Brides, Glam
« on: Tuesday 26 June 07 12:17 BST (UK) »
Jennet Thomas b June Q 1847 Bridgend district, married William Bibey Jun Q 1869 Bridgend district. (1871 and 1881 finds them in Gilfach)

The 1871 census shows her married to William age 23 (1848) and her place of birth is St Brides, Glamorgan. The same place of birth is given on the 1881 census.

Is it possible to trace Jennet in the 1841/1851 census, probably in St Brides? She'd have been around 6 in 1841 and 16 in 1851.

1861 - RG9, piece 4077, folio 19, p 4.
Groes Anthony, St Brides, Glamorgan. (Same house as 1851)

All THOMAS.
John, Head, M, 63, Weaver, b. St Brides Major.
Catherine, Wife, 55, b. St Michael.
Evan, Son, S, 24, Ag lab, b. St Brides Major.
Jennet, Daughter, 14, Scholar, b. St Brides Major. (Mistranscribed as Jenonet)
Thomas, Son, 11, Scholar, b. St Brides Major.
John, Son, 8, Scholar, b. St Brides Major.

Most of the neighbours are also Thomas.  I know that doesn't necessarily mean that they are related but if you have any names to check I'll look them up.

Isn't Jennet a lovely name?  I'm really taken with it!

Monica,
Thank you so much for your help...much appreciated. :)
I'm finding this out for a friend, so am not really sure of any other members of the  Thomas family yet.
Yes, Jennet is a nice name....and I know some of Jennet's siblings names are used in her childrens names, Catherine, Evan and Patience. it's so nice when things tie in so neatly!

Can anyone help trace this Thomas family in 1841 St Brides, Glam?
According to the IGI, John Thomas married Catherine Walters 8.5.1824 st Brides Major, Glam. The children on the 1881 census begin with Catherine b c 1831......so there's a gap of 7 years to fill....

I'd appreciate any help with this family.

Cannot seem to locate on 1841 at the mo...

There is also this marriage,

John Thomas - Catherine Jones married at St Brides Major 14 May 1828 both of parish (PB) personal details and banns.

Will take another look to see if I can locate.

I have checked 9 pages for St Brides Major in 1841 the family are not there.

Cannot find a good enough match elsewhere.
