Working for the Army WW2?
« on: Thursday 28 June 07 10:32 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Continuing my search via other threads, on continuing to ask questions I've found out another snipet which may help me. However, that will require me to ask you all again.

My Father in law's father was a carpenter and during WW2 was ordered by the Army to go to the Orkneys/Shetlands to help build radar installations. He spent a year or so up there. Would anyone know if these people would be listed anywhere. Would this be a reserved occupation or would he have been conscripted. I presume the former as he would have been about 50?

As always, any help appreciated.
