Where is Balcurroch (COMPLETED)
« on: Friday 29 June 07 00:01 BST (UK) »
OPR record in Campsie has an entry :
1827, May 5 -  John Forrest died at Balcurroch aged 1 week.

This may be a clue to part of my family and I need a copy of the death record to check.

However, can anyone tell me where Balcurroch is?  I'm wondering if it is a corruption of Bencloich in Lennoxtown but does anyone know of an alternative?

Thanks Ann, I've got both those links.
Tried them before posting.
I'm hoping someone with local knowledge can help.
I've exhausted search engines myself.

Dave

Is it a rural area ? Could be the name of a farm/estate maybe ?

Nothing coming up under either name which suggests not a place name

Fingers crossed you find it

Yes Ann, it is a place name.
As I said, I'm hoping someone with local knowledge will read the post and help out.
Thanks for your input.

Is there anybody out there that actually knows this area.  I'm in Glasgow and have checked OS maps in Stirlingshire with no success.
