Shropshire 1891 Chirbury/Minsterley JONES

On my ancestor's marriage certificate of 1891, Edgar Jones said he was living in Minsterley and that his father was Edward Jones, and under-bailiff. Edgar Jones was born in Chirbury, and married in Atcham reg. district 13 May 1891, Mary Jane FORD. At the time they were married, they had a leat one child, Mary, born in 1889 in Worthen, Shrops. Although the marriage cert says both were 21, The only Edgar Jones born in Chirbury (as per the 1901 Census when they were living in Montgomery, Wales) is in the 1881 Census with father Edward, and he was born in 1873 (making him 18 at the time of his marriage and 16 at the time of Mary's birth). I am looking for the 1891 Census of Edward JONES, Edgar's father the under-bailiff, in Chirbury I think, with his wife, who I believe is Ellen. I am also looking for Edgar and Mary Jane (I believe I found Mary Jane on the 1891 in Shrewsbury working as a servant). I am wondering where Edgar is (he was a butcher) and where daughter Mary is. mmm Found an Edward Wife Ellen ...not a Baliff though....of interest entry above is James(40) and Mary and one above that is a Ford Family!!

Well, that was the family I was thinking of. In 1881 they were living in Spout House as well with a son George and Edgar, who was 8 (born in 1873) . My hope was that they would found on the 1891 with Edward as a bailiff rather than an agricultural laborour. Oh well...I wonder where their son Edgar is and if he is in Minsterley...where my Edgar should be. Was it unusual for an under-bailiff to be a farmer as well? Matt

sorry Matt am having absolutely no luck at all with your Edgar...I just cant find him...I found Mary as u mention but cannot find the child or Edgar.....I did wonder about Edgar James 20 b Chirbury but he is deff James not Jones a Groom Dom. I dont know what else to try

Well, Thanks Kris. The only other thing I have is that Edgar and Mary Jane also had a son, a boy named Charles in 1891, supposedly in Worthen (Worthen was Mary Jane's home parish, although when her mother remarried, she settled in Shelve) so I don't know why Mary Jane would be having children in Worthen, especially when in 1891 she is a servant in a house in HC/St Giles. Plus, complicating the matter is trying to find Mary (the daughter)'s birth certificate. Technically, she could be registered under Mary Jones or Mary Ford in Atcham or Forden. Anyway, thanks. Matt

well now Worthen is certainly suffering extreme Jones Overload but alas there is a 1 year old Mary E parents John and Mary and a Mary Jane 10 months parents Edwin and Ruth next is 13!! sorry no shortage of Edwards Edwins and Evans but not an Edgar in sight!! and the only Mary Ford listing as born there is 32...No Mary Ford lists as being in Worthen 1891 either....Nearly got excited when I found a 4 year old b Minsterley living Worthen with Gparents I was sadly disappointed when I found the wrong Gparents and she was actually 11...I just have run out of options to try I am afraid...43 Jones in Minsterley but alas not yours ....Sorry...Kris

Well, I am curious, who were the grandparents of the 11 year old Mary born at Minsterley living at Worthen?
