I notice that you have Broughton on the Mold road not sure which Broughton that is as New Broughton is not on the Mold Road and Pentre Broughton is roughly 3 miles further on from New Broughton and that is where the Brynmally Pit was.  Both these Broughton's are about 10 miles from Buckley.  Norma

Hi Peterej,  I don't know if you have been on the site http://www.minerahistory.proboards78.com.they  have a story on there about a disaster at the pit on 13  March 1889. If you google Brynmally it also gives you a few sites which also tell you about Brynmally.  The area has just recently been built on.  Not sure what other information you would like as I am not to sure about it's history other then what is on these sites.  I know that a Thomas Clayton owned it at some time and his family is buried in St Paul's church and that the named a road after him.  The museum in Wrexham would probably have information and one website says there is papers in the Flintshire Record Office.  Regards Norma

Thanks Norma. I had googled previously and was aware of the 1889 disaster. Not sure if my ancestors were working there then.
The link unfortunately does not work but I was also previously aware of the Minera site.
I suppost I was hoping for some history of the mine and am sure you are correct in that my best bet is the Records office.

Thanks again

Peterej

Have you tried the www.welshcoalmines.co.uk website?  They have a page on Brynmally

try www.minerahistory.com then click on Message boards to access.
