Hello Angie
There is in the Wauchope graveyard at Langholm a memorial which the following summarises:-
James Morrison d 1861 aged 61
Wife Mary Beattie d 1884 aged 79
Agnes daughter of JM d at Langholm 1824 aged 1
Walter his son d in infancy
Eliza his daughter d 1854 aged 26
Jane his daughter d 1856 aged 16

Based on the above,  Death Certificates for James  and Mary should provide their parents.

There are several other memorials which include the Morrison surname as well.  My source for the above are published transriptions which I obtained from the Langholm Archive Centre, 93 High Street, Langholm.  They have a website at http://www.langholmarchivecentre.org.uk/  Your trip to Langholm I feel should include a visit to the above Centre which is manned by volunteers so you may need to be aware of opening times.

The three graveyards classified as being at Langholm are Langholm Old, Langholm Wauchope and Stapelgordon.  The last named, though officially in Langholm, is a little further up the valley of the Esk.  However I suspect your Langholm friends will know this anyway.

Regards
Reiver

sorry to hear that your are confused angie,

your original post asked for information regarding james and mary beatie,

i think we have covered that, with the 1841 census

all the rest was guess work regarding marriages, what we asked was that you visited scotlandspeople to confirm these marriages, but if you have other details, that say different, then please post them to help clarify all.

do you have the 1851 census for william?
