Hi all
Just wondering if anyone can help with a marriage for a catherine bennett who was born in 1867ish father benjamin bennett-born in bistre-. On my working out she must have married or moved between 1885 and 1891 as she has disappeared from the home of her father then in bistre. I found two marriages possibles-from freebmd and norht wales bmd and cheshire bmd-one in 1885 in holywell to a samuel willcock- a civil marriage-and one in chester district to an edward parry in 1890. What does anyone think-is there a way of finding out without purchasing both certificates?? Can anyone get a clue from the census of 1901 -maybe where catherine is living in 1901. Its a hard one i know-but any help will be welcomed-thankyou.

Well karenlee that sounds promising-could you spot the address they are living at because if its anywhere near bistre then it may just be her. The age is a bit out i think-but they dont always have the ages correct on these things do they. I thought she was born around 1867/1868-what do you think. ?? Please do send me full details anyway-well i mean post them if you can. Thanks for being so quick.

Thanks susan-that also confirms it may be the right catherine. At least with that detail i could maybe chance getting certificate. Wonder why they would have done a civil marriage-is it maybe because catherine was not full age-she maybe would have been 17/18 when she married samuel. ??
regards to you both

Hi again
from the oldest child and being that they married in 1885 it does not seem that she was pregnant anyway-so bang goes that reason for marrying.

Not necessarily - the oldest child could have been working away from home or died - are the family on the 1891?
