Hi
Not sure if you are still looking for info on William Nixon CHAPMAN.  I am descended from his sister Ann Matilda Chapman.  William committee suicide in 1876 by throwing himself of the boat he was captaining.

I'm happy to give more information if you are still looking.

Rachel

Hello Rachel,

Your post is the first time I have heard of Willian Nixon Chapman committing suicide in 1876 from the boat he was captaining.  Would you have anymore details on him, Louisa & his children please as I am connected to both.
Any stories at all about the family would be greatly appreciated as I have started to write my family history being in my latter years.

Thankyou.
Tiffaney

Hi Jennirosa,

I haven't been able to find any record of him regarding the Militia. Do you happen to know which unit he might have served in, or if he was present at any battles?

Hi tiffaney
William married twice - firstHe had six children with Louisa, and after she died in 1875 he married a womanEliza Pascoe with whom he had a son.  He died when that son was 1 month old.  I see you are in NZ like me, if you search his name on Papers past you will rind records of his death etc.
I'm happy to email you directly with more family info if you can provide an email address.  Which part of the line do you descend from?

Regards
Rachel
