You've just thrown a mighty spanner in my works though.
I was under the impression David came from Slamannan. 
Back to the drawing board.

Could I impose on you to check earlier census records to ascertain whether David had a connection with Slamannan?

I'd really appreciate it.  Sorry if I'm being a bit presumptious.
