Location Linlithgow

I believe these brothers were born in Whitburn or around that area.
I wonder if that is Linlithgow Palace in the background. 
I think it could be taken from high ground behind church so that the chimneys of the palace are behind the tower with the spire further behind again?  Either the spire has since gone or the perspective / depth of field is such that it cannot be seen in the more recent photo.

Can anyone confirm or otherwise?
