RANSON, Hannah - 1871 to 1947
« on: Saturday 11 December 04 01:51 GMT (UK) »
Hannah Ranson was my great, grandmother.  She was born in Bishop Auckland, Durham to Robert or Thomas Ranson.   Robert's wife was Ruth Johnson, Thomas's was Mary Ann Hughes.   Robert & Ruth were born in Durham; probably Thomas & Mary Ann were also.  I only have the towns so don't know.

Hannah married Alfred John Dawe about mid-1890 in Skelton, Yorkshire.  Hannah and her family had moved there before she was nine.  They were neighbor's of Albert's family and lived only a few houses apart.

When they married, they lived in her family's home.  At least that is what I dedeuced from the 1891 and 1901 census.  Sometime between 1901 and 1910 Albert, Hannah, their family emigrated to Ontario, Canada.  Their son, Tom, may have gone then or earlier.  Tom's bride came from Leeds - they were married in Canada in 1911.  In 1919, both families came to the US.

I'm interested in finding out more about Hannah prior to her marriage to Albert.  I've talked to a relative in England who is related to Hannah, but I would like to gather more information. Thanks for any help you can give  me.   Any details about Hannah's life at any time would be appreciated.  RedFox

Thanks once again, Nicky.  You found her.  My records show conflicting info about who the parents were, but this should confirm it.  She did have a sister, Elizabeth.  I did get a picture of them both from my contact in Yorkshire.

I'll add your info to what I have and try to correct my FTM - the format doesn't like it when I challenge it.   Still have to figure out how to fix that.  RedFox

Nicky, I've been working on trying to fix my records and have had a bit a luck.  Evidently there are brownies in my computer to take care of some of the work.  I loooove Brownies.

Thanks for the early Christmas present.  RedFox
