my grandmother was Gladys Eames dob 19/7/19 Hackney. She married Leslie Shearn in 1939 and we have all the informaiton about his family. She then married William G Speer in 1956 and we know nothing of him. Does anyone have her in their tree as we know nothing of the Eames and would like to find out.

Hi kascon

The logical step would be to order a copy of your grandmother's birth certificate so that you can identify her parents.

Here's the reference:

Gladys J Eames
September quarter 1919
Hackney vol 1b page 759
Mother's maiden name: Fursse

You can order certificates online here:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Once you have her birth certificate, you can start working backwards by obtaining her parent's marriage certificate.

In fact you may be able to do that right now - I imagine that there's probably only one Eames/Fursse marriage listed in the GRO marriage index.

Hi again

Had another quick look at the index and, yes, I agree that it's Pursse not Fursse.

as i mentioned before i was adopted and have found part of my birth family but not my mother. she unfortunately died in 1985. my grandparents seperated and my grandpa went on to have another family and this is the family i have found. so i know all there is to know about that side. in fact im meeting with them this coming weekend and they are as excited about it as i am as they never met thir fathers former family. however i have been looking in to the other side of the family and its bad news all round. of the 4 children they had together 1 died at birth, 1 at 30 and my mother at 46. the 4th John is missing and no one seems to know where he is. my grandma went on to have 2 girls with another man and of those 1 is missing and now i suspect she may have been adopted as she was born out of wedlock and the other is not acknowledging my letters. we know where she is. of the 3 children my own mother had including myself 2 were adopted and the 3rd noone knows where he is. my half sister i cant find because we dont know her knew name. so from the whole side of that family i am the sole member they have found in 20 years of searching. so you see any members of the family that you can help me find would be much aprecciated.

hi all back to this subject.
have now recieved from my full uncle and only living FULL relative his version of family tree.
working on Fursse at present. this is the correct spelling.
great grandma was Elizabeth Fursse.
parents were Charles and Harriett. dont know her maiden name as cant get anywhere in searches.
i know his parents as, as luck would have it, they are living just down his street in 1881 with his little brother.!!
can anyone look up her maiden name for me.
they were living at 15 Lark Row London in 1881. interestingly everyone in the street almost seems to be a boot maker.
also any info on his parents Charles and Jane Fursse. age 50 and 48 in 1881.
both Charels jr and senior were born in Norwich
any clues?
