Glebe House
« on: Monday 09 July 07 13:32 BST (UK) »
Hi

My gggrandparents Edward Foulkes (b1840) and Mary Anne Roberts (b1839) were married in Tremeirchion parish church in 1861. Edward was a butcher from Denbigh and Mary Anne was down as a servant, residing at Glebe House.

Can anyone tell me anything about a Glebe House around Denbigh in 1861?

Many thanks, John

An update

In 1861 census, Mary Anne Roberts lived in Glebe House, Brynhauled, Tremeirchion with her grandad (William Roberts, b about 1785), who was the (Tremeirchion Parish?) church sexton.

In 1841 census, Glebe House, Dremeirchion, Bach-y-Graig, Graig & Llan - William Roberts with wife Susanna (both 55-56yrs) with Eliza Roberts(15), John Roberts (12) and Mary Anne Roberts (2).

Looks like William Roberts looked after Tremeirchion Church 1841-1861.

On her marriage cert, the father of Mary Anne Roberts was a John Edwards (labourer).

Has anyone access to the 1851 census to see who lived in Glebe House, Tremeirchion at that time (trying to find who Mary Anne's mum was)

In 1851 living at Glebe House
William Roberts Head 64 ag lab
Susannah Roberts wife 67
John Roberts son 22
Mary Anne Roberts  dau 12
All born Dymeirchion Flintshire.
There`s no Edwards on the same page.
HO107 peice 2506 folio 32 page 4

Looks like the parish records will be the next step. Shouldn`t be too difficult with an age and both parents will be  named if Mary Anne was illegitimate. ???
