Hi Pels

Well thats the story of my life with my lot nothing straightforward
if thats them which it looks like
Whion should be William by now age 45?
William the son age 14  thats right
Virdon O the daughter? should be Vitue Oliver a son born 1859
Mary Ann thats right

with census like these no wonder we make mistakes and go off down the wrong path
I do have some census on CD but my computer playing up and they wont work so thanks for the lookup

Hi again Audrey,

I assumed Whion was Marion who was listed as head of the family, I added the word 'female' slightly later than those of the other details .. ..

Audrey  :)

As Pels has found the correct family in 1861 and 1871, I've looked for John's death between 1861 and 1871 but can't find one in Dumfries or kirkcudbright - even with wildcards, etc. There are 2 possibles in Lanark and Renfrew but  :-\

Would he possibly have died in England?

now its starting to make sense sadly the Douglases all seem to die very young I thought the Vitue was a girl as thats after Marions mother I will try to find the death for John Douglas Marions doing well never aged in 10 years like my great grandfather John Douglas he never got his age right from one census to the next
