Hi Dave  :)

Here is a link to the NAA website that Sashar was talking about:

http://www.naa.gov.au/publications/fact_sheets/fs175.html

The NAA runs a great program called "Bringing them Home", aimed at linking Indigenous people with their past, through any official paperwork that might have ended up in the NAA.  Everything they've found so far has been indexed by name, and you can ask for a search to be carried out which will find all the paperwork to do with that name.  You would then need to order copies of the paperwork, or go and look at them, but some of it might be available in the Hobart office of the NAA if you're lucky (and if that's where your mate lives!)

Good luck in your search!

Prue
