PRO Lookup Request - Met Police Records
« on: Saturday 11 December 04 14:36 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

If anyone finds themself going to the Public Records Office in Kew and has a spare 15 minutes or so, i'd really appreicate it if they could look in the following document MEPO 4/2 for me.

I'm looking for George Owen Baskett. In the 1871 census he was a  29 year old Police Officer in St. George in the East, London. His death was registered in the March quarter 1878, so i presume he died sometime between November 1877 and March 1878. The above reference gives the names of all the officers who died whilst working for the Met Police. I don't know if he died on duty or illness related but i'm assuming if he was still working for the Police, his death would have been recorded in this document.

Thanks in advance.

Paula
