:) Hi there, my parents came to new zealand as 10 pound pommes...that is the name they were called because the English government were subsidizing people to go out to Australia and New Zealand. My parents travelled with my elder brother and sister who were both born in Manchester to Australia, but my mother did not like it there and as she was pregnant again they decided to come to New Zealand as  it was free to go into hospital here to have a baby but they charged you for it in Australia, the charge for the hospital was the same for the boat fare over here so they came to New Zealand and had another of my sisters, then 2 years later they had me and then 4 years after I was born they had my younger brother.
they had a few trips back to the UK to see my fathers side of the family who never came out here and I never met, but my mothers side of the family settled in NZ and Aussie

G'day.  I'll start with James Cook(e), a bricklayer b. Alsager 1813, to his son James Cooke, a joiner b. Sandbach 1852, to his son John, an engine fitter b. Sandbach(?) 1886, to his son Leonard, my father b. Newport Australia 1918.

There is a bit more on that curious fox site under Crewe and Sandbach Heath.

I need more info.  Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.
Cooke (Crewe, Sandbach, Alsager, Hastings, Birmingham, Worthing), Crawford (Crewe, Sandbach), Burgess (Crewe)

As I am in Australia, I volunteer as a UK BDM transcriber.  I figure this is the best way I can pay back this community.
