Hi again

I've been looking at the other thread and find that on the 1841, Philomen was down as 35 - i.e. 35-39 because of rounding, so his birth year might be as early as 1801.

Halina, do you have any other proof of age - e.g. from the American info?

Gadget,

I found the same 1860 census that Helina was referring to and it shows his age as 57. He's living with a Taylor family with an occupation - shoemaker which kind of fits as he was a cordswainer.

Interesting how many ways Philemon can be spelled:) Even as Philmore???

Do an advanced search but spell the name as ...Philomon Richards...with birth country as England. Don't put anything else in. You should get a bunch of hits.

Most of the matches don't pertain to your search but there might be something buried there:) Also, it will give you some interesting spellings of his first name.

I should have added that it will only work if you are a subcriber to Ancestry.
